Bilberry is a perennial shrub. Cowberries like to grow in moist acidic soil rich in organic matter, and like light. Wild cowberries have strong cold resistance and can withstand extreme low temperature of -50 ℃. Wild European cowberries are widely distributed in Scandinavian Peninsula (Norway). It has been used to treat diabetes and eye diseases in Northern Europe, North America and Canada for a long time.
